Recently, a few of my friends have moved into their very first apartments/houses. While each friend is different, this got me thinking that I wanted to share some ideas for what to gift for a housewarming party or just the first time you visit their new humble abode. Here are some ideas from online, in-store, and even locally here in Miami!
+ Gift baskets
These are #1 because they can combine a little bit of everything. Whether the person is a homebody that likes to entertain or a loves to decorate but likes to already have things set up in a sort of theme. The @thebasketblondie is someone I started following recently on Instagram, but I think the way she makes baskets is beautiful for any occasion. I love her choice of filler and the kind of basket she uses. You can tell a lot of thought goes behind what is placed in each gift.

For the homebody
+ Candles
Classic, simple. A gift that will get used but isn’t always something someone wants to keep buying themselves. The scent is pretty personal, but I find from my years of working at Bath and Both Works that if you do not know what scent to get someone: clean linen, eucalyptus, or leathery teakwood scent are all a hit. Here is an option for women and one for men.
+ A woven blanket
Cozy, this gift has WFH written all over it. Which is the trend now anyway, right? Regardless, much like a candle, a nice blanket is something that makes a beautiful gift but isn’t something 100% you would want to spend your own money onβmaking it great to receive.
For the entertainer
+ Serving board/Serving Tray
Chatuerie anyone? I loved this design as soon as I saw it because it was different from most standard boards. A nice serving board or even tray is excellent for those who love to entertain.
+ Wine delivery
Yup, you read that right. For those of us who would rather stay at home right now but still want to send a gift to celebrate someone’s big moment, something like a wine delivery service is a classy way to do so that they are sure to enjoy.
+ Wine charms and wine glasses
I love this idea! My childhood friend recently started making these as apart of her business, and they are so cute!! You can see her page here @aniloraaccessories. She is super sweet and makes mask chains + sunglass holders as well. Then you also gift wine glasses too. I linked this set from Amazon that is the same style that everyone loves from Crate and Barrel.
+ Drink glasses
This is the same idea but for guys. I linked these glasses because they are repurposed Jameson bottles for drinks, which I thought was seriously cool.
+ Reusable ice cubes
These stones are suitable for guys who like to drink whiskey, for example, and want to keep it cool without watering it down.
For the decorator
+ Photo frame strips
I love this idea; it a photobooth strip but on your wall. Social Print Studio uses pictures from social media, you can have them printed and then add the bamboo frame, and you have a personal, creative gift that shows effort and thoughtfulness. While still being cute.
+ Coffee table books
Returning to that theme of nice gifts that you wouldn’t want to buy for yourself but love as a gift: coffee table books. Large, classic statement books like these are usually pricer for a book but look great on a table.
+ Dried flower arrangements /Plants
Dried flower arrangements are spectacular to get all the beauty of an arrangement that you won’t have to toss in about weeks’ time. House of Lilac is my favorite local shop here in Miami to create a custom arrangement or even one of their curated specials. Besides florals, delivery services such as Urban Stems sell plants that you can have delivered to surprise a friend.
Like I said in my last gift guide gifts with thought and effort are always going to be the best over anything. And sometimes even just spending time with someone you care about is the greater than any material item. If you try anything out as always let me know!
