Netflix Recommendations for a Binge-Worthy Weekend

I love seeking recommendations out for fashion, food, and fun experiences, so why not for TV binging too? Netflix is a streaming provider that offers loads of options, but sometimes it can feel just as overwhelming as the menu at Cheesecake Factory. In an effort to limit the time spent scrolling through the different categories of shows, here are my top recommendations of shows I love on Netflix:

Cable Girls β€˜Las Chicas Del Cable’

Las Chicas Del Cable follows four women as they dare to combat the stereotypical role of a woman in the 1920’s Madrid, Spain. While working at a telecommunications company, friends Lidia, Carolta, Angeles, and Marga try to make a better life for their friends, families, and each other. Season 5 will be returning sometime in 2020.

Lucifer

Lucifer Morningstar is a fallen angel who is fed up with being just the King of Hell, so he decides to reside in LA and becomes a consultant with the LAPD. This show is written exceptionally well with every other line as witty as the last. I won’t give too much away, but if this show teaches a lot about how actions can have a snowball effect. Netflix did greenlight a season 5, and production has already begun.

The Fosters

I have been a long time fan of The Fosters. The show follows Callie Adams Foster’s journey from a Juvie bad girl to a fearless sister. Living in a house with four other children, one being her biological half brother Jude this show hits on topics greater than fostering children. If you watch this show and like it be sure to check out the spin-off, Good Trouble. Netflix is streaming all 5 seasons of The Fosters.

Riverdale

A spin on the Archie Comics, Archie and his friends try to make it through high school amid solving murders and the other violent crimes in their beloved town. This cast is specular, and I love them just as much on screen as I do off. Riverdale is currently on its four seasons, while seasons 1-3 are available on Netflix.

Velvet

Velvet ‘GalerΓas Velvet’ is another excellent Spanish romance drama. Set in the 1950s, the storyline revolves around Alberto Marquez, heir to GalerΓas Velvet, and his relationship with Ana Rivera. A seamstress for the fashion house. It has a similar theme to Romeo and Juliet but with fashion added to the mix. This show is all about going after your dreams and not changing who you are for someone else. Its spin-off Velvet ColecciΓ³n currently has two seasons, and a final Christmas special is set to be released sometime in December 2019.

Gossip Girl

Based on the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar Gossip Girl details the lives of long-time besties Blair Waldorf and Serena Vanderwoodsen living on the Upper East Side. I have watched this series 2-3 times already, and every time it doesn’t get old. This show is about privilege, family, loyalty, relationships, and well finding out who Gossip Girl is. There are six seasons of Gossip Girl available to stream.

These are some of my current favorites! I hope you enjoy!
